How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Sandoz tablet per day.

Method

Take the tablet at the same time each day, usually in the morning, with or without food, and swallow it with a glass of water.

Important

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of one tablet unless advised by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
  • Symptoms of dehydration (e.g., thirst, dry mouth, infrequent urination, dark urine, dry skin)
  • Muscle pain
  • Tiredness or fatigue
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Low blood potassium levels
  • Increased blood fat (lipid) levels
  • Low blood sodium levels
  • Low blood magnesium levels
  • High uric acid levels in blood
  • Skin rash or itchy rash
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mild nausea or vomiting
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection
  • Abdominal pain
RARE
  • Severe dizziness or spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Acute difficulty breathing
  • Significant decrease in urine output, possibly indicating kidney problems
  • Low white blood cell count (symptoms like fever, skin infections, sore throat, weakness)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), due to increased bilirubin
  • Kidney function issues (increased blood urea nitrogen and creatinine)
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Swelling in the intestine causing abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Increased sun sensitivity, leading to skin swelling and blisters
  • High blood calcium levels
  • High blood sugar levels or sugar in urine
  • Worsening of diabetes
  • Constipation or stomach discomfort
  • Liver problems, which may cause yellow skin and eyes
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • Headache
  • Sleep problems or depression
  • Low platelet count (can cause unusual bleeding or bruising)
  • General visual disturbances
  • Inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis), with symptoms like rash, small red spots, or fever
  • Severe skin reactions, including rash, redness, blisters on lips/eyes/mouth, peeling skin, or fever (e.g., toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme)
  • Lupus-like symptoms (facial rash, joint pain, muscle pain, fever)
  • Severe upper abdominal pain (pancreatitis)
  • Severe lung problems (fever, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath)
  • Severe infections (fever, sore throat, mouth sores)
  • Pale skin, tiredness, shortness of breath, and dark urine (anemia)
  • Confusion, tiredness, muscle cramps, spasms, and rapid breathing (electrolyte imbalance)
  • Weakness, easy bruising, and frequent infections (aplastic anemia)
  • Blurred vision or eye pain due to high eye pressure (glaucoma)
  • General muscle cramps
  • Fever
  • General weakness
  • Non-melanoma skin and lip cancer

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides, or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can harm your baby. Avoid use during early pregnancy as well.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney disease, cannot produce urine, or are on dialysis.
  • If you experience swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, stop taking the medicine immediately and seek medical help. This could be a sign of a serious allergic reaction (angioedema).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you notice blurred vision or eye pain, as this could lead to permanent vision loss if not treated.

  • This medicine may increase your risk of certain skin and lip cancers. Protect your skin from sun and UV rays, and report any new or changing skin growths to your doctor.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion, as this can be a sign of acute respiratory distress syndrome.
