How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet of Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Krka per day.

Method

Take one tablet every day at the same time, usually in the morning, with or without food, swallowed with a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
  • Dehydration (symptoms include thirst, dry mouth/tongue, infrequent urination, dark urine, dry skin)
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Abdominal pain
  • Low potassium, sodium, or magnesium in the blood
  • Increased blood lipids
  • High uric acid in the blood
  • Itchy rash
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mild nausea and vomiting
  • Fainting when standing up
  • Erectile dysfunction
RARE
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Swelling of the intestines (angioedema), abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting
  • Rash with fever, joint and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes (flu-like symptoms)
  • Blood vessel inflammation (rash, purplish spots, fever)
  • Low platelet count (unusual bleeding or bruising)
  • High potassium in the blood (muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat)
  • Swelling of face and throat (allergic reactions)
  • Increased liver values
  • Anemia (low hemoglobin and red blood cells)
  • Kidney failure
  • Low sodium in the blood (tiredness, confusion, muscle twitching/cramps)
  • Skin swelling and blisters due to sun sensitivity
  • High calcium or blood sugar in the blood, sugar in urine
  • Worsening of diabetic condition
  • Constipation, stomach/bowel discomfort, liver problems (yellow skin/eyes)
  • Heart rhythm disorders
  • Headache
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Depression
  • Visual disturbances
  • Lupus erythematosus (rash on face, joint pain, muscle disease, fever)
  • Severe upper abdominal pain (pancreatitis)
  • Severe breathing difficulties, fever, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath (pneumonitis, pulmonary edema)
  • Hemolytic anemia (pale skin, tiredness, shortness of breath, dark urine)
  • Leukopenia (fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers due to infection)
  • Hypochloremic alkalosis (confusion, tiredness, muscle twitching/spasms, rapid breathing)
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma type)
  • Aplastic anemia (weakness, bruising, frequent infections)
  • Significantly reduced urine production (kidney failure)
  • Severe skin reactions (erythema multiforme)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Fever
  • Weakness

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or similar medicines.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant (also avoid earlier in pregnancy).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease, cannot urinate, or are on dialysis.
  • Do not take if your blood potassium or sodium levels are too low, or calcium levels are too high, despite treatment.
  • Do not take if you have gout.

  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are treated with a blood pressure medicine containing aliskiren.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you have swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (signs of angioedema).
  • Seek medical help immediately if you get a severe skin rash with fever, blistering, and peeling skin.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience decreased vision or eye pain due to high pressure in the eye.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a fever, sore throat, or frequent infections (low white blood cells).
  • Seek immediate medical care if you experience severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion (signs of acute respiratory distress).
  • Be careful in the sun as this medicine can increase sun sensitivity.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had skin cancer or a sudden change in a skin lesion.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had breathing or lung problems after taking hydrochlorothiazide.
