How to Use

Dosage

One tablet.

Method

Take one tablet daily, usually in the morning, with or without food, swallowed with a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day, unless your doctor tells you to.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low levels of potassium in your blood.
  • High levels of fats (lipids) in your blood.
  • Low levels of sodium in your blood.
  • Low levels of magnesium in your blood.
  • High levels of uric acid in your blood.
  • Itchy skin rash or other rashes.
  • Decreased appetite.
  • Mild nausea and vomiting.
  • Dizziness or feeling faint when you stand up.
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection.
RARE
  • Cough.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • General dizziness.
  • Signs of not having enough water in your body (dehydration), such as thirst, dry mouth, or dry skin.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Feeling tired.
  • Tingling or numb feeling.
  • Blurred eyesight.
  • Ringing or buzzing sound in the ears.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Joint pain.
  • Trouble breathing.
  • Significantly less urine than usual.
  • Fainting (passing out).
  • Liver problems, which can sometimes cause yellow skin or eyes.
  • Signs of kidney problems, like changes in blood test results.
  • Headache.
  • Trouble sleeping.
  • Feeling sad or depressed.
  • A type of skin or lip cancer (non-melanoma).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides (similar medicines), or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant or might become pregnant, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease, if you cannot urinate, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you get swelling of your face, tongue, or throat (angioedema), a severe skin rash with blisters, changes in your vision or eye pain, fever with sore throat, or sudden severe breathing problems.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a medicine called aliskiren for high blood pressure.
