How to Use

Dosage

For the first two weeks, use one vaginal tablet daily. After that, use one vaginal tablet twice a week, with 3 or 4 days between each dose.

Method

Insert the vaginal tablet into the vagina using the provided applicator. Do not take this medicine by mouth.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one vaginal tablet during the initial two-week period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vaginal bleeding, discharge, or discomfort
RARE
  • Genital fungal infection
  • Nausea
  • Rash
  • Weight gain
  • Hot flushes
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Diarrhoea
  • Fluid retention
  • Worsening of migraine
  • Severe allergic reaction (generalized hypersensitivity)
  • Gallbladder disease (less likely with local treatment)
  • Skin discoloration on face or neck, often called "liver spots" (less likely with local treatment)
  • Painful, reddish lumps on the skin (erythema nodosum) (less likely with local treatment)
  • Ring-shaped, reddish or sore skin rash (erythema multiforme) (less likely with local treatment)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have or have had breast cancer or any estrogen-sensitive cancer.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding or untreated thickening of the womb lining.
  • Do not use if you have or have had blood clots in veins (e.g., legs, lungs) or a blood clotting disorder.
  • Stop using and contact your doctor immediately if you notice yellowing of skin/eyes, new migraine-like headaches, swelling of face/tongue/throat with breathing issues, or symptoms of a blood clot (e.g., painful leg swelling, sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing).
  • Vagirux is not a contraceptive. If you become pregnant, stop using Vagirux and contact your doctor.
