Vaginelle is a vaginal hormone replacement therapy product used to relieve menopausal symptoms such as vaginal dryness and irritation by replacing the body's estrogen.

How to Use

Dosage

Initially 1g daily for the first three weeks of treatment, then 1g twice a week.

Method

Vaginelle should be used in the evening before bedtime with an applicator. Wash hands, screw the applicator onto the tube, fill the applicator to the 1g mark, unscrew from the tube, and carefully insert deep into the vagina. Press the plunger to dispense and remove the empty applicator without pulling the plunger back.

Important

For the first three weeks, a maximum of 1g per day. For maintenance treatment, a 1g dose on two days a week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Painful breast tenderness (usually passes).
  • Vaginal heat or itching.
  • Weight gain due to fluid retention.
  • Increase in blood pressure.
  • Nausea or other digestive symptoms.
RARE
  • Uterine bleeding (either during or after treatment).
  • Migraine-like headache.
  • Leg cramps or feeling of heavy legs.
  • Allergic skin reactions (with itching, redness, swelling).

Important Warnings

  • If any of the conditions mentioned under "Do not use Vaginelle" appear during treatment, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • If your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow, which can be a sign of liver disease, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • If you experience swelling of the face, tongue, and/or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or trouble breathing, which may indicate angioedema, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • If you experience a significant increase in blood pressure (symptoms may include headache, fatigue, dizziness), stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • If you experience migraine-like headaches you haven't had before, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.

  • If you become pregnant, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • If you notice signs of a blood clot, such as painful swelling and redness in your legs, sudden chest pain, or difficulty breathing, stop using it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • Vaginelle is not a contraceptive. If it has been less than 12 months since your last period or you are under 50, you may still need contraception. Ask your doctor for advice.
  • Simultaneous use of Vaginelle and latex condoms may reduce the condoms' strength and thus their safety.
  • Vaginelle should not be used during breastfeeding.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

The classification depends on the dosage form. Systemic use (for example estrogen patch, tablet, gel): Avoid use in older adults. In systemic use, consider potential adverse effects, such as risk of cardiovascular diseases and venous thromboembolism. Consider potential interactions.
