How to Use

Dosage

As prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablets with a sufficient amount of liquid, such as a glass of water. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Important

Follow your doctor's instructions; do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, diarrhea, and loose stools
  • Rash
RARE
  • Increase in a certain type of white blood cells (eosinophilia)
  • Sudden swelling in the skin or mucous membranes (angioedema)
  • Swelling of the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Rash resembling scarlet fever or measles
  • Red spots on the skin (purpura)
  • Allergic blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis)
  • Fever
  • Increased breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia)
  • Temporary low count of certain white blood cells (neutropenia)
  • Serum sickness (an allergic reaction causing swelling and joint pain)
  • Anaphylaxis (a severe and rapidly developing allergic reaction)
  • Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (fever and general symptoms at the beginning of antibiotic treatment)
  • Inflammation of the colon (colitis)
  • Black hairy tongue
  • Liver damage, liver inflammation (hepatitis), cholestatic jaundice, increased liver enzyme values
  • Severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Convulsions, nerve damage, and kidney problems (especially in patients with existing kidney failure receiving high doses or injections)
  • Low platelet count (rarely, with high doses or injections)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to penicillin or any other ingredient in this medicine, or if you have had a severe allergic reaction to other similar antibiotics.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have previously had a rash or other allergy symptoms with antibiotics, or if you have atopic dermatitis (eczema).
  • Vomiting and diarrhea can prevent the medicine from being absorbed properly. If you experience these symptoms, contact your doctor.
  • Finish the entire course of medicine, even if your symptoms improve after a few days. Stopping early can cause the infection to return or lead to antibiotic resistance.
  • If you take too much medicine, or if a child accidentally takes it, contact a doctor, hospital, or poison control center immediately for advice.

  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
  • Take V-Pen on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after your last meal and at least 30 minutes before your next meal.
