How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is about 10 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid per kg of body weight daily, but it can vary based on your condition and weight, so always follow your doctor's instructions.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water or another liquid. For some conditions, you take them in the evening; for others, multiple times a day. Take your medicine regularly. Tablets can be divided.

Important

The maximum daily dose can be up to 30 mg per kg of body weight, divided into several doses, as directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Soft stools, loose stools or diarrhea.
RARE
  • Severe upper right-sided abdominal pain and worsening of liver scarring (this may improve after stopping treatment).
  • Gallstones becoming hard (calcified).
  • Hives (itchy rash).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ursodeoxycholic acid or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have acute inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts, or a blockage in your bile ducts.
  • Do not take if you often have severe cramp-like pain in your upper abdomen (gallstone colic).
  • Do not take if your doctor has told you that you have calcified gallstones or problems with your gallbladder contracting.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you get diarrhea, as your dose may need to be lowered or treatment stopped.

  • Do not use during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Women of childbearing age should use reliable non-hormonal contraception.
  • Ursosan is not suitable for children under 6 years due to the tablet strength.
