How to Use
Dosage
The dose depends on your weight and condition; a common daily dose is about 10 mg per kg of body weight.
Method
Swallow the tablets whole with water or another liquid, usually once a day in the evening at bedtime. Take it regularly.
Important
Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose, which typically does not exceed 10 mg per kg of body weight but can be higher for specific conditions.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Soft, loose stools or diarrhea
RARE
- •Severe pain in the upper right side of your stomach or worsening of liver scarring, especially during treatment for primary biliary cholangitis.
- •Hardening of gallstones (calcification)
- •Hives (itchy rash)
Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to bile acids (like ursodeoxycholic acid) or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not take if you have acute inflammation or blockage of your gallbladder or bile ducts.
- Do not take if you often experience severe cramp-like pain in your upper stomach (gallstone colic).
- Do not take if your doctor has told you that you have calcified gallstones or problems with your gallbladder not contracting properly.
- Tell your doctor immediately if you get diarrhea, as your dose may need to be lowered or treatment stopped.

- This medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and prescribed by your doctor.
- If you are taking this medicine to dissolve gallstones, tell your doctor if you use medicines containing estrogen hormones, as these can promote gallstone formation.
- Do not give to children who have biliary atresia and poor bile flow after surgery.
