How to Use

Dosage

Take as prescribed by your doctor. For gallstones, a typical dose is about 10 mg per kg body weight daily, usually 2-5 capsules depending on your weight.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water or another liquid. Take them in the evening before bed. It is important to take this medicine regularly.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor based on your condition and weight, typically up to 7 capsules (1750 mg) for certain conditions.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Loose stools or diarrhea.
RARE
  • Severe upper abdominal pain on the right side during PBC treatment, which may improve after stopping treatment.
  • Hardening of gallstones due to calcium build-up.
  • Hives (itchy rash).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bile acids (like ursodeoxycholic acid) or any other ingredient in Ursosan.
  • Do not take if you have acute inflammation or a blockage in your gallbladder or bile ducts.
  • Do not take if you often experience severe cramp-like pain in your upper abdomen (biliary colic).
  • Do not take if your doctor has told you that you have calcified gallstones or that your gallbladder does not work well.
  • Do not use during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Women of childbearing age must use effective non-hormonal contraception.
