How to Use

Dosage

A small amount of ointment applied to the eye several times a day, as directed by your doctor.

Method

Pull down your lower eyelid with a finger, tilt your head back, and gently squeeze a small amount of ointment into the space between your eye and lower eyelid. Avoid touching your eye with the tube tip. Close the tube immediately after use.

Important

The maximum daily dose is as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed this dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary mild burning, stinging, redness, or a gritty feeling in the eye.
  • Blurred vision right after applying the ointment.
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Increased pressure inside the eye (if used for more than one week).
  • Thinning or erosion of the cornea (with long-term use).
RARE
  • Clouding of the eye's lens (cataract).
  • Widening of the pupil (this can worsen narrow-angle glaucoma).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to prednisolone, other corticosteroids, or any other ingredient in Ultracortenol.
  • Do not use if you have a fungal, mycobacterial, or viral eye infection, or long-lasting eyelid inflammation.
  • Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma or increased eye pressure. If you use this medicine for a long time, your eye pressure should be checked regularly.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as this may increase your risk of elevated eye pressure or cataracts.
  • Long-term use can weaken your immune system in the eye and increase the risk of new eye infections, especially fungal infections.

  • If your eye condition does not improve within 7-8 days, contact your doctor.
  • Corticosteroids can hide or worsen acute pus-forming eye infections.
  • If you have used this medicine for a long time, you should gradually reduce the dose before stopping it completely, following your doctor's advice.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during eye inflammation or while using Ultracortenol, as some ingredients can stick to the lenses and damage your cornea.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • If this medicine causes blurred vision, do not drive or operate machinery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For temporary use. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. Do not use if fungal or viral infection is suspected. (updated 4.12.2023)
