How to Use

Dosage

One tablet as a single dose.

Method

Take it by mouth as soon as possible, but no later than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or birth control failure. You can take it at any time during your menstrual cycle and at any time of day, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet. This is a single dose treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, stomach pain or discomfort, vomiting
  • Painful periods, pelvic pain, breast tenderness
  • Headache, dizziness, mood swings
  • Muscle pain, back pain, tiredness
RARE
  • Diarrhea, heartburn, gas, dry mouth
  • Unusual or irregular vaginal bleeding, heavy/long periods, PMS, vaginal irritation or discharge, changes in sex drive
  • Hot flashes
  • Changes in appetite, emotional problems, anxiety, restlessness, trouble sleeping, sleepiness, migraine, vision problems
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Acne, skin problems, itching
  • Fever, chills, general feeling of being unwell
  • Genital pain or itching, pain during sex, ovarian cyst rupture, unusually light periods
  • Loss of concentration, dizziness, tremors, confusion, fainting
  • Unusual eye sensation, red eyes, sensitivity to light
  • Dry throat, taste changes
  • Hives (itchy rash), feeling thirsty
  • Allergic reactions such as rash, hives, or swelling of the face

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ulipristal acetate or any of its ingredients.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if your period is late or you have pregnancy symptoms, as you might already be pregnant.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if you have severe asthma.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if you have severe liver disease.
  • This medicine can make your regular hormonal birth control (like pills or patches) less effective for a short time. Use condoms until your next period.

  • Do not take this medicine with other emergency contraceptive pills that contain levonorgestrel.
  • Some other medicines can make this medicine less effective. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking.
  • If you are breastfeeding, do not breastfeed for one week after taking this medicine. Pump and throw away your milk during this time.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, sleepiness, or blurred vision. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms.
