How to Use

Dosage

Your dentist will decide the dose based on your age, weight, and health, using the smallest amount needed. It's for children over 4 years old (at least 20 kg), teenagers, and adults.

Method

The medicine is given as a slow injection inside your mouth.

Your dentist will use the smallest amount needed for effective numbing, usually for short procedures lasting up to 30 minutes.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Gum inflammation
  • Nerve pain
  • Numbness or reduced sensation in and around the mouth
  • Metallic taste, changes in taste, or loss of taste
  • Increased or unpleasant touch sensations
  • Increased sensitivity to heat
  • Headache
  • Abnormally fast heart rate
  • Abnormally slow heart rate
  • Low blood pressure
  • Swelling of the tongue, lips, and gums

  • Burning sensation
  • High blood pressure
  • Inflammation of the tongue and mouth

  • Increased blood volume in a part of the body
  • Blood vessel dilation or constriction

  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Swelling of the cheeks and local swelling
  • Burning mouth syndrome
  • Red skin (erythema)
  • Unusually profuse sweating
  • Worsening of nerve-muscle symptoms related to Kearns-Sayre syndrome
  • Sensation of heat or cold
  • Lockjaw

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to articaine, adrenaline, or any other ingredient in this medicine, or to other numbing medicines.
  • If you have epilepsy that is not well controlled with medicine.
  • If you have severe heart problems like bad rhythm issues, sudden heart weakness, very low or very high blood pressure, or if you've had a heart attack or heart bypass surgery in the last 3-6 months. Also, tell your dentist if you take beta-blockers.
  • If you are taking certain medicines for depression (tricyclic antidepressants) or Parkinson's disease, as these can make the adrenaline work stronger.
  • If you have uncontrolled diabetes, a severe overactive thyroid, a tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), or glaucoma affecting your eyes.

  • If there is inflammation or infection at the injection site.
  • This medicine contains sodium sulfite, which can rarely cause severe allergic reactions or asthma attacks. Tell your dentist if you are allergic to sulfites or have asthma.
  • Do not eat or chew anything until the numbness has completely worn off to avoid accidentally biting your lip, cheek, or tongue.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to get pregnant, talk to your dentist. You can breastfeed again 5 hours after the numbness.
  • Do not drive or operate machines if you feel dizzy, have blurred vision, or are tired until you have fully recovered (usually within 30 minutes after the procedure).
