How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water in the morning before a meal.

Important

Do not exceed one tablet per day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling (fluid retention)
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed
  • Feeling your heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Red face or neck (flushing)
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Feeling unreal or detached, due to low blood pressure
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach upset, like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Changes in taste
  • Allergic skin reactions, like rash or itching
  • Muscle spasms
  • Feeling tired, weak, or sleepy
  • Swelling of the ankles
  • Low potassium level in the blood
  • Severe dizziness or fainting
RARE
  • Sudden wheezing, chest pain, or serious breathing problems
  • Swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat that causes major breathing trouble
  • Severe skin reactions like bad rash, hives, redness, intense itching, blisters, skin peeling, or swelling (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Heart attack or a dangerous irregular heartbeat
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), causing severe stomach and back pain, and feeling very sick
  • Muscle weakness, cramps, tenderness, or pain, especially with fever (could be due to muscle breakdown)
  • Mood changes, anxiety, depression, or sleep problems
  • Trembling, fainting, or loss of sensation to pain
  • Irregular or fast heartbeat
  • Blocked or runny nose
  • Hair loss
  • Purple spots on the skin (purpura) or skin discoloration
  • Sweating, chest pain, or joint/muscle/back pain
  • General feeling of being unwell, kidney problems, trouble urinating, or needing to urinate more often at night
  • Problems with erections (impotence)
  • Fever or discomfort/enlargement of male breasts
  • Weight gain or loss
  • Changes in blood tests like increased white blood cells, high potassium, low blood sugar, low sodium (leading to dehydration/low blood pressure)
  • Inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis)
  • Skin reactions when exposed to sunlight or artificial UV light
  • Clusters of blisters on the skin, or swelling of hands, ankles, or feet
  • Increased creatinine and urea in blood tests
  • Falls or dry mouth
  • Confusion
  • Other blood test changes like low chloride, low magnesium, high liver enzymes, or high bilirubin
  • Worsening of psoriasis, flushing, or greatly reduced urine output/kidney failure
  • Dark urine, nausea/vomiting, muscle cramps, confusion, and seizures (symptoms of SIADH)
  • Low white blood cells, low platelets (easy bruising/nosebleeds), or low red blood cells (anemia)
  • Angina (chest pain with exertion) or a rare type of lung inflammation (eosinophilic pneumonia)
  • Swollen, tender, or thickened gums, or bleeding
  • Liver problems like inflammation (hepatitis) or yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice)
  • Stomach inflammation (gastritis)
  • Nerve problems causing weakness, tingling, or numbness, or severe muscle stiffness
  • High blood sugar or high calcium in the blood
  • Stroke, possibly caused by very low blood pressure
  • Brain problems due to liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy)
  • Abnormal heart test (ECG) results
  • Nearsightedness, blurred vision, or eye pain due to high eye pressure (fluid buildup or glaucoma)
  • Trembling, stiff posture, expressionless face, slow movements, shuffling walk, discolored/numb/painful fingers or toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Stop immediately and call your doctor if you get sudden swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat, making it hard to breathe or swallow.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant (especially over 3 months) or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor if you plan to become pregnant.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure.

  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a medicine containing aliskiren.
  • Do not use at the same time as a heart failure medicine containing sacubitril and valsartan.
  • Tell your doctor if you get eye pain or worsening eyesight.
  • Athletes should know that this medicine can cause a positive doping test result.
  • This medicine must not be given to children or adolescents.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other blood pressure medicines or medicines that raise potassium (e.g., lithium, potassium-sparing diuretics).
  • Tell your doctor or dentist if you are going to have anesthesia or surgery.

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
