How to Use

Dosage

As prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablets with plenty of water. Drink more fluids than usual during treatment. You can split the tablet if you have difficulty swallowing it whole.

Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage; a general maximum daily dose is not specified.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to trimethoprim or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you have severe malabsorption.
  • Do not use if you have a folic acid deficiency or are taking other medicines that affect folic acid levels.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. It is not recommended during breastfeeding.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Contraindicated in case of severe hepatic impairment. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Consider the risks when used in combination with medicines that predispose to hyperkalaemia and are myelotoxic. (updated 6.11.2023)
