How to Use

Dosage

Start with a small dose of 0.6 mg once a day for at least one week. Your doctor will gradually increase your dose by 0.6 mg each week until you reach the recommended 3.0 mg once a day.

Method

Inject under the skin (subcutaneous injection) into your stomach area, thigh, or upper arm. Do not inject into a blood vessel or muscle. Take it around the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 3.0 mg once a day. Do not increase your dose beyond this.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face and throat, and rapid heartbeat (signs of a severe allergic reaction).
  • Severe and persistent stomach pain (in the abdomen) that may spread to your back, along with nausea and vomiting (signs of pancreatitis).
COMMON
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, headache (these usually go away after a few days or weeks).
  • Stomach and bowel problems, such as indigestion, stomach inflammation (gastritis), stomach pain, upper stomach pain, heartburn, bloating, gas, burping, dry mouth.
  • Feeling weak or tired.
  • Changed taste.
  • Dizziness.
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia). This usually happens during the first 3 months of treatment.
  • Gallstones.
  • Rash.
  • Injection site reactions (such as bruising, pain, irritation, itching, and rash).
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Signs can appear suddenly and include: cold sweat, pale and cool skin, headache, heart palpitations, nausea, intense hunger, vision changes, drowsiness, weakness, nervousness, anxiety, confusion, difficulty concentrating, and shaking.
  • Increased levels of pancreatic enzymes (such as lipase and amylase).
RARE
  • Dehydration (loss of body fluid). This is more likely to happen at the start of treatment and can be caused by vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea.
  • Delayed stomach emptying.
  • Gallbladder inflammation.
  • Allergic reactions, including rash.
  • General feeling of being unwell.
  • Faster heart rate.
RARE
  • Impaired kidney function.
  • Acute kidney failure. Symptoms may include decreased urine output, metallic taste in the mouth, and easy bruising.
RARE
  • Bowel obstruction. A severe form of constipation with additional symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, etc.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Triglyva if you are allergic to liraglutide or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use Triglyva if you have severe heart failure.
  • It is not recommended if you are 75 years old or older.
  • If you have kidney disease or need dialysis, talk to your doctor.
  • If you have liver problems, talk to your doctor.

  • Do not use if you have severe stomach or bowel problems causing slow stomach emptying (gastroparesis) or inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are going to have surgery that requires anesthesia.
  • If you have diabetes, do not use Triglyva as a substitute for insulin.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had a pancreas disease.
  • Stop using Triglyva and contact your doctor immediately if you get severe pain in your upper stomach, especially on the right side under your ribs, which might spread to your back or right shoulder. This could be a sign of gallbladder issues.
  • If you have a thyroid disease, such as thyroid nodules or an enlarged thyroid, talk to your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience heart palpitations (you can clearly feel your heart beating) or if your heart rate is fast at rest during Triglyva treatment.
  • When starting Triglyva, you might get dehydrated due to nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. It is important to drink plenty of fluids to prevent this.
  • Do not use Triglyva if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby. Do not breastfeed if you are using Triglyva.
  • Some patients may feel dizzy during the first three months of Triglyva treatment. If you feel dizzy, be extra careful when driving or using machines.
