How to Use

Dosage

The usual daily dose for adults is 4 to 8 capsules. For children, the dose is 2 to 5 capsules. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. Take them on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.

Important

Do not take more than 8 capsules in one day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Trientine Waymade if you are allergic to trientine or any other ingredients in this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, facial swelling, weakness, and breathing problems.
  • Your doctor needs to check your copper levels regularly, especially at the start of treatment, when your dose changes, or if you are a growing child or pregnant.
  • If you experience new or worsening nerve problems like shaking, problems with coordination, slurred speech, or muscle stiffness, tell your doctor right away.
  • Do not take iron tablets or antacids (medicines that neutralize stomach acid) within 2 hours of taking Trientine Waymade, as they can reduce its effect.
  • Take this medicine with water only. Avoid other drinks, milk, or food, and do not eat or drink (except water) for 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking it.

  • Do not eat the desiccant (drying agent) found in the medicine bottle.
  • Taking too much Trientine Waymade may cause nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Contact a doctor or emergency service immediately if you take too much.
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
  • Do not stop or change your treatment without talking to your doctor first, even if you feel better.
