How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you based on your health.

Method

This medicine is given continuously through a small tube (cannula) placed under your skin in your stomach or thigh, or into a vein in your neck, chest, or groin. A portable pump outside your body pushes the medicine through the tube.

Important

Do not change your dose or increase it without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will set your maximum daily dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Widening of blood vessels with skin redness
  • Pain or tenderness around the infusion site
  • Skin discoloration or bruising around the infusion site
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Jaw pain
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Lightheadedness or fainting due to low blood pressure
  • Skin itching or redness
  • Swelling of feet, ankles, or lower legs, or fluid retention in the body
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine, bleeding gums, or blood in stools
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain in legs and/or arms
RARE
  • Infection at the infusion site
  • Abscess (a pocket of pus) at the infusion site
  • Lower number of platelets in your blood (thrombocytopenia), which helps blood clot
  • Bleeding at the infusion site
  • Bone pain
  • Rash with skin discoloration or raised bumps
  • Subcutaneous tissue infection (cellulitis)
  • Too much blood pumped from the heart, causing shortness of breath, tiredness, swelling in legs and stomach (due to fluid buildup), and a lasting cough
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
  • Bacterial infection in the bloodstream (bacteremia)
  • Severe bacterial infection in the blood (sepsis), which can be life-threatening or fatal

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have a condition called "pulmonary veno-occlusive disease" where veins in your lungs are swollen and blocked.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have certain heart problems, such as a heart attack in the last 6 months, severe irregular heartbeats, severe coronary artery disease or unstable chest pain, a heart defect that weakens your heart, or an untreated heart disease.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have a high risk of bleeding, like from an active stomach ulcer or an injury.

  • Do not use this medicine if you have had a stroke or other brain blood flow problem in the last 3 months.
  • Tell your doctor if your blood pressure drops too low.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you quickly get worse breathing problems or a cough that won't go away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe bleeding, as this medicine can make it harder for your blood to clot.
  • If you get a fever during intravenous treatment, or if the area around your infusion tube becomes red, swollen, or sore, tell your doctor. These could be signs of an infection.
