How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dose and infusion rate based on your condition.

Method

The medicine is given continuously either under the skin (into the abdomen or thigh) or directly into a vein (in the neck, chest, or groin) through a small tube (cannula). An external pump delivers the medicine.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. Do not change your dose without consulting your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Widened blood vessels and skin redness
  • Pain or tenderness around the infusion site
  • Skin discoloration or bruising around the infusion site
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Jaw pain
RARE
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Lightheadedness or fainting due to low blood pressure
  • Itching or skin redness
  • Swelling of feet, ankles, or legs, or fluid retention in the body
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine or stool
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain in legs and/or arms
  • Infusion site infection
  • Infusion site abscess
  • Decreased number of platelets (thrombocytopenia)
  • Infusion site bleeding
  • Bone pain
  • Rash with skin discoloration or raised bumps (maculopapular rash)
  • Tissue infection under the skin (cellulitis)
  • Excessive pumping of blood from the heart, causing shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
  • Bloodstream bacterial infection (bacteremia)
  • Severe bloodstream bacterial infection (sepsis)

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you have a disease where blood vessels in your lungs are blocked (pulmonary veno-occlusive disease).
  • If you have severe liver disease.
  • If you have had a heart attack in the last 6 months, severe heart rhythm problems, or an untreated heart condition.
  • If you have a high risk of bleeding, for example, from an active stomach ulcer.

  • If you have had a stroke or other brain blood flow problem in the last 3 months.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing difficulties or persistent cough worsen rapidly.
  • Seek medical attention if you get a fever or if the infusion site becomes red, swollen, or painful, as this can be a sign of infection.
  • Use reliable contraception while taking this medicine if you can become pregnant.
  • Do not stop or reduce the dose suddenly without your doctor's approval, as this could quickly worsen your condition.
