How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose and how fast the medicine should be given to you.

Method

The medicine is given continuously either under the skin (in the abdomen or thigh) or directly into a vein (usually in the neck, chest, or groin) using a small tube and a portable pump.

Important

Your doctor will adjust your dose as needed. Never increase your dose without talking to your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Blood vessel widening and skin redness.
  • Pain or tenderness at the infusion site.
  • Skin color changes or bruising at the infusion site.
  • Headaches.
  • Rashes.
  • Nausea.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Jaw pain.
RARE
  • Dizziness.
  • Vomiting.
  • Feeling faint or fainting (due to low blood pressure).
  • Itchy or red skin.
  • Swelling of feet, ankles, or legs (fluid retention).
  • Bleeding (e.g., nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine, bleeding gums, or blood in stool).
  • Joint pain.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Pain in legs or arms.
  • Infection at the infusion site.
  • Abscess at the infusion site.
  • Decreased platelet count (which can increase bleeding risk).
  • Bleeding at the infusion site.
  • Skin tissue infection (cellulitis).
  • Bone pain.
  • Rash with skin discoloration or raised bumps.
  • Heart failure (shortness of breath, tiredness, swelling in legs and belly, persistent cough).
RARE
  • Inflammation of a vein (thrombophlebitis).
  • Serious bacterial infection in the bloodstream.
  • Sepsis (severe body-wide infection due to bacteria).

Important Warnings

  • You are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • You have pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (a rare lung condition where blood vessels are blocked).
  • You have severe liver disease.
  • You have serious heart problems, such as a heart attack in the last six months, severe irregular heartbeats, chest pain, or an untreated heart condition.
  • You have a high risk of bleeding, for example due to an active stomach ulcer or a condition that causes bleeding.
