How to Use

Method

Treposa is given as a continuous infusion either under the skin (usually in your stomach or thigh) or directly into a vein (usually in your neck, chest, or groin), using a portable pump.

Important

Do not change your dose without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will carefully adjust and monitor your dose to ensure it is safe and effective.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Red skin due to widened blood vessels
  • Pain or tenderness around the infusion site
  • Skin discoloration or bruising around the infusion site
  • Headaches
  • Rashes
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Jaw pain
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Fainting or feeling lightheaded due to low blood pressure
  • Itchy or red skin
  • Swelling in feet, ankles, or legs due to fluid buildup
  • Bleeding (e.g., nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine, bleeding gums, blood in stools)
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain in legs and/or arms
RARE
  • Infection at the infusion site
  • Abscess at the infusion site
  • Decrease in blood cells that help blood clot (platelets)
  • Bleeding at the infusion site
  • Skin infection under the skin (cellulitis)
  • Bone pain
  • Rash with skin discoloration or raised bumps
  • Heart failure (signs include shortness of breath, tiredness, swelling in legs and stomach, persistent cough)
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
  • Severe bacterial infection in the bloodstream (sepsis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Treposa if you are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use Treposa if you have had a severe heart attack in the past six months, have serious heart rhythm problems, severe coronary artery disease, or heart failure.
  • Do not use Treposa if you have a high risk of bleeding (like an active stomach ulcer) or have had a stroke in the last three months.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing difficulties or cough worsen quickly.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a fever during the infusion or if the infusion site is red, swollen, or painful, as these can be signs of infection.
