Trelema is an epilepsy medicine that helps reduce epileptic seizures in adults and children.
Your doctor will determine your dose based on your weight and condition. For adults and children weighing at least 50 kg, the usual starting dose is 50 mg twice a day, gradually increasing to a maintenance dose of 100-300 mg twice a day. For children under 50 kg, the dose is calculated based on their weight and is also taken twice a day.
This medicine is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion by a doctor or nurse, usually for 15-60 minutes. It's typically used for a short time if you cannot take oral medication. You should take it twice a day, about 12 hours apart, and try to take it at the same time each day.
The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor, usually up to 600 mg per day for adults.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects include dizziness and nausea. (updated 6.10.2025)
