How to Use

Dosage

Treatment usually starts with one Transiderm-Nitro 5 mg/24h patch per day. If needed, your doctor may increase the dose to one Transiderm-Nitro 10 mg/24h patch per day.

Method

Apply one patch to clean, dry, hair-free skin on your upper arm or chest. Change the patch daily, or as advised by your doctor, applying it to a different skin area each time. Do not cut or split the patch.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 10 mg/24h patch.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to glyceryl trinitrate, other similar medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure and tend to faint.
  • Do not use if you have high pressure inside your head (a rare condition).
  • Do not use if you have certain types of heart failure (e.g., due to a narrowed heart valve or inflammation of the heart sac).
  • Do not use if you are also taking medicines for erectile dysfunction, like sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil, as this can dangerously lower your blood pressure.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems caused by lung disease, a heart valve defect, or any other heart or blood vessel disease not related to coronary arteries.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack, stroke, or head injury.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have too little oxygen in your blood due to severe anemia or a heart or lung disease.
  • Be careful with alcohol, as it can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of Transiderm-Nitro.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, especially when you first start using it. Be careful when driving or operating machines.
  • Do not stop using this medicine on your own. If you need to stop, do so gradually and under your doctor's guidance.

Category A
