How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will decide the right dose for you and how long you need to take it. For children, the dose is based on their weight.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine slowly into a vein (as a drip). It must not be given in other ways, such as into a muscle or the spine.

Important

Your doctor will decide the highest dose you can take each day, based on your condition.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Throwing up (vomiting)
  • Loose stools (diarrhea)
RARE
  • Skin rash
  • Feeling unwell with low blood pressure and possibly fainting, especially if the medicine is given too quickly.
  • Blood clots
  • Seizures
  • Problems with vision, like difficulty seeing colors.
  • Allergic reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to tranexamic acid or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had blood clots, or if you are at high risk of getting them (e.g., if you use hormonal birth control).
  • If you have a condition where blood clots form too much throughout your body (disseminated intravascular coagulation), unless you have severe bleeding and your doctor thinks this medicine is necessary.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures or fits.

  • This medicine must only be given into a vein. It must not be injected into the spine, epidural space, or brain, as this can cause serious harm. If you feel pain in your back or legs after receiving this medicine, tell your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood in your urine, as Tranexkabi can block your urinary tract.
  • If you use this medicine for a long time, your doctor will regularly check your eyes and vision, especially your color vision.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to get pregnant, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. Breastfeeding is not recommended while on this medicine. Women of childbearing age should use reliable contraception.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Make sure you know how it affects you before driving or using machines.
