How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you, based on your age and weight (for children over 1 year).

Method

This medicine is given as a slow injection or infusion directly into a vein. It should not be injected into a muscle.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose and treatment duration.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
RARE
  • Skin rash
  • Feeling unwell with low blood pressure, possibly leading to loss of consciousness (especially if injected too quickly)
  • Blood clots
  • Seizures
  • Vision problems, including color vision changes
  • Allergic reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to tranexamic acid or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you currently have a condition that causes blood clots.
  • Do not use if you have a condition called 'consumption coagulopathy', where blood clots form throughout your body.
  • Do not use if you have kidney problems.
  • Do not use if you have a history of seizures.

  • Tell your doctor if you have blood in your urine, as it can lead to blockages in the urinary tract.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a risk of developing blood clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a severe blood clotting or bleeding disorder (disseminated intravascular coagulation), as this medicine might not be suitable for you unless specific conditions are met.
  • If you are on long-term treatment, your doctor will monitor your vision for any color changes and you will need regular eye examinations.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
