How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 100 mg or 200 mg capsule once a day.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water at the same time each day. You can open the capsule and mix the granules with water, but do not chew or crush them.

Important

Do not take more than 400 mg of Tramadol per day, unless your doctor tells you to.

  • Serotonin syndrome: feeling restless, seeing or hearing things that aren't there, coma, fever, fast heartbeat, blood pressure changes, uncontrolled muscle twitches, stiff muscles, problems with coordination, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to tramadol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have used certain antidepressants called MAO inhibitors in the last 14 days.
  • Do not take if you have acute poisoning from alcohol, sleeping pills, pain medications, or other medicines that affect your mood.
  • Do not take if you have epilepsy that is not well controlled by medication, as this medicine may increase the risk of seizures.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.

  • Do not use if you are in treatment for drug dependence (replacement or withdrawal).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have breathing difficulties.
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment as it can increase the effects of this medicine.
  • Do not use during pregnancy. Long-term use during pregnancy can cause withdrawal symptoms in the newborn.
  • Do not use more than once while breastfeeding, or stop breastfeeding if using more often.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy, dizzy, or blur your vision, which can affect your ability to react. Do not drive or use machines if your reaction time is impaired.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are depressed and taking antidepressants, as some can interact with tramadol and cause serotonin syndrome.
