How to Use

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 1-2 tablets (50 mg) or 1 tablet (100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg) twice a day, depending on your pain level.

Method

Swallow tablets whole with water, do not chew or split them. Take in the morning and evening, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 400 mg of tramadol per day unless your doctor has specifically told you to.

RARE
  • Palpitations, fast heart rate, feeling faint or collapsing (especially when standing up or during physical exertion).
  • Feeling like vomiting, stomach upset (pressure, bloating), diarrhea.
  • Itching, rash.
  • Allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, wheezing, skin swelling, shock).
  • Slow heart rate, increased blood pressure.
  • Unusual sensations (itching, tingling, numbness), tremors, epileptic seizures, muscle spasms, involuntary movements, temporary loss of consciousness (fainting), speech disorders.
  • Changes in appetite.
  • Hallucinations, confusion, sleep disturbances, delirium, anxiety, nightmares, mood changes, activity changes, changes in cognition and sensory functions, drug dependence.
  • Blurred vision, narrowed pupils (miosis) or widened pupils (mydriasis).
  • Slow breathing, shortness of breath, worsening of asthma (not confirmed to be caused by tramadol), respiratory depression (with high doses or other CNS depressants).
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Difficulty or pain with urination, reduced urine volume.
  • Increased liver enzymes.
  • Decreased blood sugar.
  • Hiccups.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to tramadol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors in the last 14 days (used to treat depression).
  • Do not use if you have epilepsy that is not controlled by medication.
  • Avoid if you have poisoning from alcohol, sleeping pills, or other mood-altering medicines.
  • Do not use for opioid dependence replacement or withdrawal treatment.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have consciousness disorders, are in shock, have increased brain pressure, breathing difficulties, or epilepsy (seizure risk may increase).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have depression or are taking antidepressants, as tramadol can interact with them.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment, as it can increase the effect of the medicine.
  • Do not use during pregnancy. Long-term use can cause withdrawal symptoms in the newborn.
  • If breastfeeding, do not use Tramal retard more than once or stop breastfeeding if using it more often.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if your reactions are impaired.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Serotonergic. Prodrug. Genotype affects the response. Reduce the dose in moderately severe and severe renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. (updated 18.8.2025)
