How to Use

Dosage

For adults and young people over 12, take one 100 mg tablet twice a day, usually in the morning and evening. Your doctor might change this dose.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with plenty of water, preferably in the morning and evening. Do not chew them. You can take them with or without food. The 150 mg and 200 mg tablets can be divided in half.

Important

Do not take more than 400 mg in one day unless your doctor tells you to.

RARE
  • Fast or slow heartbeat, changes in blood pressure, sudden collapse
  • Feeling sick (retching) or stomach problems like bloating and diarrhea
  • Skin reactions like itching and rash, or serious allergic reactions with difficulty breathing, swelling of the face/throat, or shock
  • Strange feelings like tingling, numbness, tremors, muscle twitches, problems with coordination, or fainting
  • Epileptic seizures
  • Changes in appetite, blurred vision, changes in pupil size, speech problems
  • Confusion, seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), sleep problems like nightmares, or feeling very anxious
  • Slow or difficult breathing, muscle weakness, difficulty urinating
  • Low blood sugar, hiccups
  • Serotonin syndrome, a serious reaction with symptoms like agitation, hallucinations, coma, fever, fast heartbeat, muscle stiffness, or severe stomach problems
  • Drug dependence (addiction)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Tradolan Retard if you are allergic to it or its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have recently taken alcohol, sleeping pills, strong pain medicines, or other mood-altering medicines.
  • Do not use if you are taking MAO inhibitors (certain antidepressants) or have taken them in the last two weeks.
  • Do not use if your epilepsy is not well controlled by medicine.
  • This medicine can cause addiction; use carefully if you have a history of dependence on other pain medicines.

  • This medicine can cause breathing problems during sleep, so tell your doctor if you notice any such symptoms.
  • Avoid alcohol and be careful with sedatives, as they can increase drowsiness and breathing issues.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Serotonergic. Prodrug. Genotype affects the response. Reduce the dose in moderately severe and severe renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. (updated 18.8.2025)
