How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your suitable dose, usually starting with a low dose that is gradually increased.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew them. You can take the medicine with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids during the day and avoid alcohol.

COMMON
  • Depression
  • Blocked or runny nose, sore throat
  • Tingling, pain, or numbness in different body parts
  • Drowsiness, tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea, diarrhea
  • Weight loss
  • Seizures
  • Anxiety, irritability, mood changes, confusion, disorientation
  • Problems with concentration, slow thinking, memory loss, memory problems
  • Kidney stones, frequent or painful urination
RARE
  • Increased acidity in the blood (may cause breathing problems, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, severe tiredness, fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Reduced or no sweating (especially in small children exposed to high temperatures)
  • Serious thoughts of self-harm or suicide attempts
  • Partial loss of vision
  • Glaucoma (high eye pressure, pain, or reduced vision)
  • Severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome (rashes, blisters, ulcers)
  • Liver inflammation or liver failure
  • Blindness in one eye, temporary blindness, night blindness

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to topiramate or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or can become pregnant without using highly effective birth control.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor, especially if you have epilepsy, as your condition might worsen.
  • Monitor your weight regularly and contact your doctor if you experience significant weight loss, or if a child's weight development is not as expected.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.

  • This medicine may cause dizziness, tiredness, or vision problems. Do not drive or operate machines until you have discussed this with your doctor.
