How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will usually start with a low dose and slowly increase it until the right dose is found for you.

Method

Swallow tablets whole. You can take them with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids daily to prevent kidney stones.

  • Stuffy or runny nose, sore throat
  • Anemia (low blood count)
  • Allergic reaction (e.g., rash, itching, swelling)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Aggression, agitation, anger, unusual behavior

  • Speech problems, slurred speech
  • Clumsiness, lack of coordination, unsteady walking
  • Reduced ability to do daily tasks
  • Taste changes or loss
  • Involuntary shaking or tremor, rapid eye movements

RARE
  • Increased blood acidity (metabolic acidosis)
  • Decreased or absent sweating
  • Serious thoughts of self-harm or suicide attempts
  • Partial vision loss
  • Glaucoma (eye pain and vision loss due to high eye pressure)
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Eye inflammation (uveitis)
  • Abnormal mood (e.g., very elevated mood)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Blindness in one eye, temporary or night blindness
  • Weak vision
  • Swelling inside or around the eyes
  • Cold, numb, or tingling fingers and toes that change color
  • Liver inflammation or failure
  • Abnormal skin odor
  • Discomfort in arms or legs
  • Kidney dysfunction
  • Maculopathy (eye disease affecting central vision)
  • Low blood counts (platelets, white blood cells, potassium)
  • Increased liver enzymes or eosinophils
  • Swollen glands (neck, armpit, groin)
  • Increased appetite
  • Hallucinations, severe mental disorder
  • Lack of emotion, paranoia, panic attacks
  • Reading or writing difficulties
  • Restlessness, hyperactivity
  • Slowed thinking, reduced alertness
  • Slow or jerky body movements
  • Abnormal or reduced sensation
  • Impaired or lost sense of smell
  • Strange sensations before migraine or seizure
  • Dry eyes, light sensitivity, involuntary eyelid twitching, watery eyes
  • Hearing loss (partial or complete, in one ear)
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat, pounding heart
  • Low blood pressure, especially when standing up (causing dizziness or fainting)
  • Flushing, feeling hot
  • Pancreatitis
  • Excessive gas, heartburn, bloating
  • Gum bleeding, increased saliva, drooling, bad breath
  • Excessive thirst or drinking
  • Skin discoloration
  • Muscle stiffness, flank pain
  • Blood in urine, incontinence, urgent or painful urination, kidney pain
  • Erectile dysfunction, sexual problems
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Feeling intoxicated
  • Learning difficulties

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Topiramat Orion if you are pregnant, unless your doctor considers it the only option. If you can become pregnant, use highly effective birth control during treatment and for at least 4 weeks after your last dose.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or eye problems, such as glaucoma.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you develop a rash or blisters, as this could be serious.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have trouble thinking, remembering, or feel very sleepy, as this could be due to high ammonia levels in your blood.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery if this medicine causes dizziness, tiredness, or vision problems, until you have discussed it with your doctor.
  • Avoid alcohol during treatment.
