How to Use

Dosage

One dose is 0.25 ml. The basic vaccination course includes three such doses.

Method

The vaccine is usually given as an injection into the muscle of the upper arm; for children under 18 months, it can be given in the thigh. It must not be injected into a blood vessel, and only in special cases is it given under the skin.

Important

One 0.25 ml dose per vaccination visit as per the schedule.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain at the injection site.
  • Headache.
  • Swelling, redness, or hardness at the injection site.
  • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite.
  • Tiredness, feeling unwell.
  • Restlessness or sleeplessness (in younger children).
  • Muscle pain.
  • Fever.
RARE
  • Swollen lymph nodes.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Joint pain.
  • Chills.
  • Tingling at the injection site.
  • Numbness, tingling, or odd sensations in nerves.
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Indigestion or stomach pain.
  • Hives.
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., trouble breathing, facial swelling).
  • Brain inflammation, signs of irritation of brain membranes (like stiff neck).
  • Neurological symptoms (e.g., facial paralysis, paralysis, nerve inflammation).
  • Muscle weakness, unusual sensations (like tingling) in arms, legs, or body (Guillain-Barré syndrome).
  • Vision problems (impaired vision, light sensitivity, eye pain).
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Skin reactions (rash, itching, redness, increased sweating).
  • Stiffness or pain in muscles, neck, hands, and feet.
  • Flu-like symptoms, weakness, swelling under the skin, unsteady walking.
  • Seizures, with or without high fever.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to any ingredients in the vaccine, such as formaldehyde, protamine sulfate, neomycin, or gentamicin. An allergic reaction can cause rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, blue lips or tongue, low blood pressure, or loss of consciousness.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a severe allergic reaction to eggs or chicken in the past.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child has an illness with or without fever; your doctor may postpone vaccination until you are feeling better.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child has a bleeding disorder, an autoimmune disease (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis), a weakened immune system, cancer treatment, corticosteroid medication, a brain disease, or neurological symptoms/seizures.
