How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 60 mg tablet twice a day.

Method

Take this medicine at about the same time each day (e.g., one tablet in the morning and one in the evening), with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two 60 mg tablets, totaling 120 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Shortness of breath (very common).
  • High uric acid levels in blood (seen in blood tests).
  • Bleeding caused by blood disorder.
  • Bruises.
  • Headache.
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation (feeling like the room is spinning).
  • Diarrhea or upset stomach.
  • Nausea.
  • Constipation.
  • Rash.
  • Itching.
  • Severe joint pain and swelling (signs of gout).
  • Dizziness or weakness or blurred vision (signs of low blood pressure).
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Heavier than usual bleeding after surgery or from cuts (e.g., shaving) and wounds.
  • Stomach lining bleeding (ulcer).
  • Bleeding gums.
RARE
  • Bleeding in the brain or skull (signs of stroke), such as sudden numbness or weakness on one side of the body, sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding, sudden problems with walking, balance, or coordination, sudden dizziness or severe headache without a known cause.
  • Signs of bleeding, such as severe or uncontrollable bleeding, unexpected or long-lasting bleeding, pink, red, or brown urine, vomiting red blood or material resembling coffee grounds, red or black (tar-like) stools, coughing or vomiting blood clots.
  • Fainting (syncope) - temporary loss of consciousness due to a sudden decrease in blood flow to the brain.
  • Symptoms related to a blood clotting problem called Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP): such as fever and blue-red spots (purpura) on the skin or in the mouth, possibly with yellowing of the skin or eyes, unexplained severe tiredness, or confusion.
  • Allergic reaction – rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue may be signs of an allergic reaction.
  • Confusion.
  • Vision problems caused by blood in the eye.
  • Vaginal bleeding that is heavier or occurs at different times than your usual menstrual period.
  • Bleeding into joints and muscles, which can cause painful swelling.
  • Blood in the ear.
  • Internal bleeding, which may cause dizziness or weakness.
  • Unusually slow heart rate (usually under 60 beats per minute).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ticagrelor or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have active bleeding.
  • Do not take if you have had a stroke caused by bleeding in the brain.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take if you are using certain medicines like ketoconazole, clarithromycin, nefazodone, ritonavir, or atazanavir.

  • Tell your doctor if you have a higher risk of bleeding due to a recent serious injury, recent surgery (including dental), a blood clotting disorder, or recent stomach or bowel bleeding.
  • Inform your doctor if you have upcoming surgery (including dental surgery), as you may need to stop this medicine 5 days before.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an unusually slow heart rate (under 60 beats per minute) and do not have a pacemaker.
  • Tell your doctor if you have asthma, other lung diseases, or breathing difficulties.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience irregular breathing, such as fast, slow, or short pauses in breathing.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had liver problems or a past illness affecting your liver.
  • Tell your doctor if blood tests have shown high uric acid levels.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment in specialized care. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 19.9.2025)
