How to Use

Dosage

The typical dosage for treatment is 10 to 20 mg, given three times a day for up to two weeks, or as directed by your doctor.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle or slowly into a vein by a healthcare professional.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. In severe conditions, doses can be up to 750 mg given three times a day.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as difficulty breathing, itching, shock, or stomach pain. These may start with sneezing or temporary itching.
  • Pain at the injection site.
  • Skin inflammation at the injection site (contact dermatitis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to thiamine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a mild allergic reaction to thiamine before, as you could have a more serious reaction.
  • The injection must be given slowly into a vein (over at least 30 minutes) to avoid severe reactions.
  • If you have kidney problems, your doctor will monitor you closely.
