How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth. You can take the tablets with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Try to take the tablets in the morning at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tingling, nerve pain
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Weakness
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Blocked nose
  • Low blood pressure, including when standing up, which may cause faintness or dizziness
  • Changes in blood values, such as increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
RARE
  • Insomnia, depression, anxiety, nervousness
  • Sexual dysfunction or changes in sexual desire
  • Muscle cramps, fever, vertigo, constipation
  • Changes in blood values (e.g., gout, high cholesterol, low sodium/potassium/chloride, decreased white blood cells)
  • Fluid accumulation in the lungs, lung inflammation, inflammation of the pancreas
  • Increased red blood cell destruction (hemolytic anemia)
  • Acute respiratory distress (severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, confusion)
  • Decreased appetite, jaundice
  • Vision impairment or eye pain due to high eye pressure (possible signs of fluid in the choroid or acute angle-closure glaucoma)
  • Restlessness
  • Other blood cell changes (e.g., decreased granulocytes/platelets, red blood cell formation disorders, low magnesium, high calcium/triglycerides)
  • Kidney disorders, kidney inflammation, acute kidney failure
  • Inflammation of blood vessel walls
  • Blistering on the skin, skin peeling (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Rashes/skin lesions due to autoimmune disease (cutaneous lupus erythematosus), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • Joint pain (arthralgia)
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic reactions)
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity)
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer)
  • Intestinal angioedema (swelling in the intestine with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to eprosartan, hydrochlorothiazide, any other ingredients, or sulfonamide medicines.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems or severe issues with blood flow to your kidneys.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren-containing blood pressure medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high calcium or low potassium or sodium levels in your blood.

  • Do not use if you have gallbladder or bile duct problems (gallstones).
  • Do not use if you have gout or other symptoms of high uric acid levels in your blood.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant (especially after 3 months, but avoid throughout pregnancy).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sudden vision changes or eye pain while on Teveten Comp.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking Teveten Comp.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
