How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening. Your doctor will determine your specific dose.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with at least half a glass of water while sitting or standing upright (not lying down). Take the capsules at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. It is important to complete the entire course of medication.

Important

The maximum daily dose is typically 600 mg (300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening).

  • Allergic reaction causing swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, and throat
  • Liver inflammation
  • Itching, rash, or hives
  • Sudden severe generalized allergic reaction, possibly with malaise
  • Changes in some liver values
  • Increased brain pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight
  • Blisters, peeling skin over large areas, or sores/mucosal lesions in the mouth, lips, genitals, or anal area
  • Depression
  • Nightmares
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Increased urea levels in the blood, especially if diuretics are used concurrently

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to lymecycline, other tetracycline medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are also using certain other strong medicines for severe acne or psoriasis (isotretinoin, etretinate, or acitretin).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine should not be given to children under 8 years old because it can permanently stain their teeth.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, or a condition called myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) or systemic lupus erythematosus (a disease affecting several organs) before starting this medicine.

  • Your skin may become more sensitive to strong sunlight. Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds while taking this medicine.
  • Do not use this medicine after its expiry date, as expired medicine can cause kidney damage.
  • Take this medicine at least one hour before or two hours after eating food or drinking milk, as they can affect how well the medicine works.
  • If you are taking antacids, charcoal products, iron, calcium, zinc supplements, or certain epilepsy medicines, take Tetralysal at least one hour before or two hours after them.
