How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with at least half a glass of water while sitting upright to prevent irritation of the food pipe. Take the capsules at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.

Important

The usual daily dose is 600 mg, taken as 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening.

  • Inflammation of the tongue (glossitis)
  • Intestinal inflammation

  • Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Allergic reaction causing swelling of the face, eyes, and lips, which may spread to the tongue and throat
  • Liver inflammation
  • Itching, rash, or hives
  • Sudden severe widespread allergic reaction, possibly with feeling unwell
  • Changes in some liver enzyme levels
  • Increased pressure in the brain
  • Dizziness
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Blisters and peeling skin over large areas, or sores/mucosal damage in the mouth, lips, genitals, or anus
  • Depression
  • Nightmares
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) and pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Increased urea levels in the blood, especially if diuretics are used at the same time

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Tetralysal if you are allergic to lymecycline, other tetracyclines, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are also using isotretinoin, etretinate, or acitretin (capsules for severe acne and psoriasis).
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not give Tetralysal to children under 8 years old, as it can permanently stain their teeth.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems before starting Tetralysal.

  • Tell your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis (a muscle-weakening disease) or lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus).
  • Avoid strong sunlight and sunbeds during treatment, as this medicine can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
  • Do not use this medicine after its expiry date, as expired Tetralysal can cause kidney damage.
  • Overdosing can be harmful to your liver.
  • It is important to finish the entire course of medication, otherwise the infection may return.
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
