Terra-Cortril-P is a medicine that contains antibiotics to kill bacteria and hydrocortisone to reduce inflammation in the eyes and ears.

How to Use

Dosage

For eye drops/ointment: 1-2 drops or 1 cm of ointment into the eye 2-3 times a day. For ear drops/ointment: 2-4 drops or 1 cm of ointment into the ear 3-4 times a day.

Method

Wash your hands before use. Shake the drop bottle well. Gently put the medicine into your eye (inside the lower eyelid) or ear canal. Be careful not to touch the infected area with the tip of the dropper/tube.

Important

Use the medicine up to 3-4 times a day as directed by your doctor. Continue treatment for a few days after symptoms disappear.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary stinging or burning in the eye
  • Feeling like something is in the eye
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as skin rash or contact dermatitis
  • Dark spots on the skin where the medicine was applied
  • Increased tear production
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Blurred vision
  • Hearing problems (like hearing loss, ringing in ears) or dizziness, especially if the ear canal gets blocked (for ear drops)
  • New bacterial or fungal infections
  • Other skin reactions, such as red or swollen patches, blisters (hives), or itching

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have a viral, fungal, tuberculosis, or other mycobacterial infection in your eye or ear.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other eye problems while using this medicine.
  • This medicine is not recommended after a perforated eardrum or after a foreign object has been removed from the eye.
  • Long-term use of eye medicines containing hydrocortisone can lead to high eye pressure (glaucoma). Your doctor should check your eye pressure if treatment lasts longer than 10 days.

  • If you are using ear drops and experience hearing or balance problems, seek medical attention.
  • If the infection does not improve, tell your doctor. Long-term use of antibiotics can lead to resistant bacteria.
  • If you stop using this medicine suddenly after a long time, you might experience withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor before stopping treatment.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • This medicine can temporarily blur your vision. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear again.
