How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 40 kg take one 14 mg tablet daily. Children 40 kg or less take 7 mg daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole or split in half with some water. You can take it with or without food, at any time of day.

Important

The most you should take in a day is 14 mg for adults and children over 40 kg. For children 40 kg or less, the maximum is 7 mg per day.

  • Severe allergic reactions, with symptoms like rash, hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or face, or sudden difficulty breathing
  • Severe skin reactions, with symptoms like rash, blisters, fever, or mouth sores
  • Serious infections or sepsis (blood poisoning), with symptoms like high fever, chills, confusion, or low urine output
  • Lung inflammation, with symptoms like breathing difficulties or a persistent cough
  • Severe liver disease, with symptoms like yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, unexplained nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain
  • Low platelet count
  • Nerve damage in arms or legs (peripheral neuropathy), causing increased sensitivity, burning, or throbbing pain
  • Nail disorders
  • Psoriasis (a skin condition)
  • Mouth or lip inflammation
  • Abnormal blood fat levels
  • Colon inflammation (colitis)
  • Liver inflammation or damage
  • Pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lung arteries)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to teriflunomide or any other ingredient in it.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you get a serious rash, blisters, or sores in your mouth.
  • If you have severe liver problems or drink a lot of alcohol, your doctor will check your liver function with blood tests.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Use reliable birth control during and after treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a serious immune system problem, a serious infection, or problems with your bone marrow.
