How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 40 kg, the usual dose is one 14 mg tablet once a day; for children up to 40 kg, your doctor will decide the correct dose, typically 7 mg daily.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth once a day at any time, swallowing the whole tablet with water, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor has prescribed.

  • Tingling, weakness, numbness, prickling or pain in lower back or legs (sciatica)
  • Numbness, burning, prickling or pain in hands or fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome)

RARE
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting (rare in adults)
  • Severe allergic reactions, including rash, hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or face, and sudden difficulty breathing
  • Severe skin reactions, including rash, blisters, fever, or mouth sores
  • Severe infections or sepsis (life-threatening type of infection) with symptoms such as high fever, shaking, chills, reduced urine flow, or confusion
  • Lung inflammation, with symptoms like difficulty breathing or persistent cough
  • Severe liver disease, with symptoms like yellowing skin or eyes, darker urine, unexplained nausea and vomiting, or stomach pain
  • Low platelet count
  • Increased skin sensitivity; stinging or throbbing pain along nerves, nerve problems in arms or legs (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Nail disorders
  • Pain after injury
  • Psoriasis
  • Inflammation of the mouth or lips
  • Abnormal blood fat levels
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (colitis)
  • Liver inflammation or damage
  • High blood pressure in the lungs

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to teriflunomide or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions like rash, blisters, or mouth sores.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems, are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if you have severe immune system problems (like AIDS), severe bone marrow issues (low blood cell counts), severe infection, severe kidney problems requiring dialysis, or very low protein levels.
  • Your doctor will check your liver function and blood pressure regularly during treatment.

  • This medicine can lower your white blood cell count, increasing your risk of infections, including herpes infections like cold sores or shingles. Tell your doctor if you suspect an infection.
  • If you get unexplained cough or shortness of breath, weakness, numbness, or pain in your hands and feet, tell your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you plan to get vaccinated, are taking leflunomide, or are switching to/from other MS medicines.
  • This medicine contains lactose; if you have sugar intolerance, talk to your doctor.
