How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 40 kg take one 14 mg tablet once daily. Children 40 kg or less take half a 14 mg tablet (7 mg) once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole. You can take it with or without food, at any time of day. The tablet can be divided into two equal halves if needed.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 14 mg for adults and children over 40 kg, and 7 mg for children 40 kg or less.

  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), with symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting (more common in children/adolescents, less common in adults)
  • Herpes virus infections, such as cold sores or shingles, causing blisters, burning, itching, numbness, or pain on one side of the body or face, along with fever and weakness.
RARE
  • Low platelet count (mild thrombocytopenia)
  • Increased skin sensitivity, or stabbing/throbbing pain along nerves in arms/legs (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Nail disorders
  • Severe skin reactions, such as severe rash, blisters, fever, or mouth sores
  • Post-traumatic pain
  • Psoriasis
  • Inflammation of the mouth or lips
  • Abnormal blood fat (lipid) levels
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (colitis)
  • Liver inflammation or damage
  • High blood pressure in the lung's blood vessels (pulmonary hypertension)
  • Severe allergic reactions, including rash, hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or face, or sudden difficulty breathing
  • Severe infections or sepsis (life-threatening infection), with symptoms like high fever, shaking, chills, reduced urine flow, or confusion
  • Lung inflammation, with symptoms like shortness of breath or persistent cough
  • Severe liver disease, with symptoms like yellowing of skin or eyes, unusually dark urine, unexplained nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to teriflunomide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have had severe skin rashes, peeling skin, blisters, or mouth sores after taking teriflunomide or leflunomide.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have a severe immune system problem, such as AIDS.

  • Do not take if you have severe bone marrow problems or low red or white blood cell counts, or low platelet counts.
  • Do not take if you have a severe infection.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney problems that need dialysis.
  • Do not take if you have very low protein levels in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems or drink a lot of alcohol; your doctor will check your liver function.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure; your doctor will monitor your blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an infection, as this medicine can lower your white blood cells and make it harder to fight infections.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you think you have a herpes virus infection (like cold sores or shingles), as this can lead to serious issues.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an unexplained cough or shortness of breath.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel weakness, numbness, or pain in your hands and feet.
  • Tell your doctor if you plan to get vaccinated.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking leflunomide.
  • Tell your doctor if you are switching to or from teriflunomide.
  • Tell your doctor if you are having a blood test for calcium levels, as results might be falsely low.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and affect concentration. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or have reduced concentration.
