How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 40 kg: 14 mg once a day. For children 10 years and older weighing 40 kg or less: 7 mg once a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth once daily with or without food. The tablet can be divided into two equal doses if needed, and should be swallowed whole with water.

The maximum daily dose is 14 mg for adults and children over 40 kg, and 7 mg for children 10 years and older weighing 40 kg or less.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels (shown in tests)
  • Hair thinning
  • Flu, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infection, bronchitis, sinus infection, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, bladder infection, viral stomach flu, tooth infection, throat infection, athlete's foot
  • Herpes infections (e.g., cold sores, shingles)
  • Low red blood cells (anemia), changes in liver and white blood cell test results, increased muscle enzyme levels
  • Mild allergic reactions
  • Anxiety
  • Tingling, weakness, numbness, burning, or pain in the lower back, legs (sciatica), hands, and fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome)

RARE
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting
  • Severe allergic reactions, including rash, hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or face, or sudden difficulty breathing
  • Severe skin reactions, including rash, blisters, fever, or mouth sores
  • Severe infections or sepsis (life-threatening infection), with symptoms like high fever, shaking, chills, reduced urine flow, or confusion
  • Lung inflammation, with symptoms like difficulty breathing or persistent cough
  • Severe liver problems, with symptoms like yellow skin or eyes, darker urine, unexplained nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain
  • Low platelet count
  • Increased skin sensitivity, stabbing or throbbing nerve pain, nerve problems in arms or legs (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Nail problems
  • Post-traumatic pain
  • Psoriasis (a skin condition)
  • Mouth and lip inflammation
  • Abnormal blood fat levels
  • Colon inflammation (colitis)
  • High blood pressure in the lung arteries (pulmonary hypertension)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to teriflunomide or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe skin reactions, like a rash, peeling skin, blisters, or mouth sores.
  • Inform your doctor about any liver problems or if you drink a lot of alcohol, as your doctor will monitor your liver function.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have severe immune system problems, such as AIDS.

  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy and affect your ability to concentrate, so do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy.
