How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the exact dose for you based on your body size, whether your tumor has returned, and if you have had chemotherapy before.

Method

Take the capsules once a day, preferably at the same time each day, on an empty stomach, at least one hour before breakfast. Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water; do not open, crush, or chew them.

Important

Your doctor will regularly check your blood counts and may adjust your daily dose if needed, ensuring you get the right amount of medicine without taking too much.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or throwing up (vomiting)
  • Headache
  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Hair loss
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Low numbers of blood cells (e.g., white blood cells, platelets), making you prone to infections or bruising
  • Dizziness or feeling off-balance
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Memory problems or confusion
  • High blood sugar
RARE
  • Serious brain infections caused by herpes virus
  • Development of other cancers, including leukemia
  • Severe decrease in all types of blood cells
  • Diabetes insipidus, which causes extreme thirst and frequent urination
  • Mood changes or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Liver damage, which can be life-threatening
  • Severe skin reactions with blisters, peeling skin, or extreme redness and swelling, especially on hands and feet
  • Infertility in men

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to temozolomide or dacarbazine (another cancer medicine) or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had hepatitis B or if you have liver or kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you get a fever or other signs of infection, or if you have severe nausea and vomiting.
  • This medicine can make you feel tired or sleepy; do not drive, cycle, or use machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding; talk to your doctor about effective birth control during and after treatment.
