How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your correct dose. The dose depends on your height, weight, and your condition.

Method

Take the capsules whole with a glass of water on an empty stomach, at least one hour before breakfast, once a day at the same time. Do not open or chew the capsules.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your treatment cycle and condition.

Possible Side Effects

  • Loss of appetite
  • Speech problems

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Rash or hair loss
  • Feeling tired
  • Infections, including mouth infections
  • Lower numbers of blood cells (like white blood cells or platelets)
  • Allergic reactions
  • High blood sugar
  • Memory problems, depression, anxiety, confusion, trouble sleeping
  • Poor coordination or balance
  • Trouble concentrating, changes in alertness, forgetfulness
  • Dizziness, reduced sense of touch, tingling, shaking, changes in taste
  • Partial vision loss, abnormal vision, double vision, painful eyes
  • Deafness, ringing in ears, ear pain
  • Blood clots in lungs or legs, high blood pressure
  • Pneumonia, shortness of breath, bronchitis, cough, sinus infection
  • Stomach pain, upset stomach, heartburn, difficulty swallowing
  • Dry skin, itching
  • Muscle weakness, muscle aches, joint pain, back pain
  • Frequent urination, difficulty holding urine
  • Fever, flu-like symptoms, pain, general discomfort, cold or flu
  • Fluid retention, swollen legs
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Radiation injury
RARE
  • Brain infections caused by herpes virus (including fatal cases)
  • Wound infections
  • New or reactivated cytomegalovirus infections
  • Reactivated Hepatitis B virus infections
  • Development of other cancers (including leukemia)
  • Severe reduction in certain blood cell types (pancytopenia, anemia, leukopenia)
  • Red spots under the skin
  • Diabetes insipidus (excessive thirst and urination), low blood potassium
  • Mood swings, hallucinations
  • Partial paralysis, changes in sense of smell
  • Reduced hearing, middle ear infection
  • Heart palpitations, hot flashes
  • Swollen abdomen, difficulty controlling bowel movements, hemorrhoids, dry mouth
  • Liver inflammation or damage (including fatal liver failure), bile flow problems, increased bilirubin
  • Blisters on body or mouth, peeling skin, severe rash with swelling (including on hands and feet), painful red skin
  • Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight, hives, increased sweating, changes in skin color
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Vaginal bleeding, irritation, absent or heavy periods, breast pain, sexual impotence
  • Chills, facial swelling, tongue discoloration, thirst, dental problems, dry eyes

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to temozolomide, its other ingredients, or dacarbazine (a cancer medicine).
  • Do not use if your blood counts, like white blood cells or platelets, are too low.
  • Your doctor will monitor you for a serious lung infection (PCP). You may need medicine to prevent this.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had or currently have a Hepatitis B infection, as this medicine can reactivate the virus.
  • If you experience severe nausea or vomiting, your doctor may prescribe medicine to prevent it.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a fever or symptoms of infection.
  • If you are over 70 years old, you are more susceptible to infections, bruising, and bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, so your dose can be adjusted.
