How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is 0.2 - 0.4 mg every 6-8 hours.

Method

Place the Temgesic tablet under your tongue and let it dissolve in your mouth. Dissolving usually takes about 5-10 minutes. Do not chew or swallow the tablet, as this will reduce its effectiveness.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose; do not exceed your doctor's instructions.

Important Warnings

  • Never give this medicine to anyone else. It can cause death or serious harm.
  • Serious breathing problems and even death have occurred when this medicine was misused or taken with other sedating medicines or alcohol.
  • This medicine can cause dependence and addiction, which can lead to life-threatening overdose.
  • Tell your doctor if you have breathing difficulties, liver or kidney problems, low blood pressure, a head injury, thyroid or adrenal gland issues, or urinary problems.
  • When taken with antidepressants, this medicine can cause serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can impair your reactions and cause drowsiness.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine contains lactose. Talk to your doctor if you have a sugar intolerance.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Low transdermal efficacy in cachectic patients. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. (updated 24.3.2025)
