How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Accord tablet once a day.

Method

Try to take the tablet at the same time each day, with or without food, swallowed with water or another non-alcoholic drink.

Important

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 mg/12.5 mg if you have liver problems.

Possible Side Effects

  • Dizziness

  • Low blood potassium, sodium, or high blood calcium levels
  • Anxiety, restlessness, depression, difficulty sleeping, drowsiness
  • Fainting, spinning sensation (vertigo), headache
  • Fast or irregular heart rate, low blood pressure, sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up, chest pain
  • Shortness of breath, lung inflammation, acute respiratory distress syndrome
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, dry mouth, flatulence, constipation, abdominal swelling, indigestion, feeling unwell, vomiting, stomach lining inflammation, pancreatitis, yellowing of skin or eyes
  • Back pain, muscle cramps, muscle pain, joint pain, pain in limbs, tendon inflammation, osteoarthritis
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Impaired or blurred vision, yellow vision, eye pain, worsened vision (possible signs of fluid in the eye or acute glaucoma)
  • Skin redness, itching, rash, hives, increased sweating, increased sensitivity to sunlight, blisters on lips, eyes or mouth, peeling skin, skin inflammation (like vasculitis or erythema multiforme), worsening of lupus
  • Flu-like symptoms, fever, sore throat, sinus infection, weakness, salivary gland inflammation
  • Low platelet count, decreased red or white blood cells
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., severe rash, swelling of the face/throat)
  • Low or high blood sugar (in diabetics), glucose in urine, electrolyte imbalance, high cholesterol levels, decreased appetite, decreased blood volume
  • Kidney inflammation, abnormal liver function
  • High pH due to low blood chloride (acid-base imbalance)
  • Tingling or prickling sensation

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to telmisartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients in the tablet.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant; avoid it during early pregnancy as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have uncorrected low blood potassium or high blood calcium levels.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and are treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.

  • Seek urgent medical help if you experience sudden vision changes or eye pain, as this can lead to permanent vision loss if untreated.
  • This medicine may increase the risk of skin or lip cancer; protect your skin from sun and UV rays during treatment.
  • If you develop severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking this medicine; do not stop treatment on your own.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and tiredness; do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or tired.
