How to Use

Dosage

Usually one Telmark tablet daily, but your doctor may change the dose to suit you (20mg, 40mg, or 80mg).

Method

Take the tablet whole with water or a non-alcoholic drink, with or without food, around the same time each day.

Important

If you have liver problems, do not take more than 40 mg of Telmark daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure.
RARE
  • Infections, like urinary tract infections or flu-like symptoms (sore throat, sinus infection, common cold).
  • Blood changes, like having too few red blood cells (anemia) or changes in potassium levels.
  • Feeling dizzy, fainting, trouble sleeping, feeling sad (depression), or feeling anxious.
  • Slow or fast heart rate, low blood pressure when standing up, or blurred vision.
  • Breathing problems, like shortness of breath or cough, and rarely, lung scarring.
  • Stomach or gut issues, like stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting, bloating, dry mouth, changes in taste, or swelling in the intestines.
  • Skin reactions, such as itching, increased sweating, skin rash, eczema, red skin, hives, or sudden swelling of the skin, face, or throat.
  • Muscle or joint pain, including back pain, muscle cramps, or pain in arms and legs.
  • Kidney problems, including severe kidney issues, or chest pain and feeling weak.
  • Serious infections like blood poisoning (sepsis) or severe allergic reactions.
  • Low blood sugar (in patients with diabetes).
  • Abnormal liver function.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Telmark if you are allergic to telmisartan or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Telmark if you are pregnant (especially after the third month), or if you think you might be pregnant. It's best to avoid it in early pregnancy too.
  • Do not use Telmark if you have severe liver problems, such as problems with bile flow from your liver or gallbladder.
  • Do not use Telmark if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • If you experience sudden swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), or signs of a severe infection (sepsis, often called 'blood poisoning'), stop taking Telmark and get medical help right away, as these can be life-threatening.
