Teicoplanin Demo S.A. is an antibiotic that kills bacteria and treats various infections in the body.
Your doctor will decide the exact dose based on your weight, age, and type of infection. For most infections in adults and children 12 years and older, initial doses are usually 6 to 12 mg per kg of body weight every 12 hours for the first few doses, followed by a maintenance dose of 6 to 12 mg per kg once a day. For gut infections caused by Clostridium difficile, the dose is 100 to 200 mg by mouth twice a day. Special doses apply for babies, younger children, or patients with kidney problems.
A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine in a hospital as an injection into a vein or muscle, as an infusion into a vein (drip), or for some infections, orally.
Your doctor will decide the maximum daily dose, which depends on your condition and age.
