Technescan HDP

Technescan HDP is a medicine used in adults and children to detect bone abnormalities, such as fractures or the spread of cancer, by temporarily accumulating in bones and being visualized with special cameras.

How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose for adults is 300–740 MBq; for children, the dose is determined by weight.

Method

The medicine is given as an injection, usually into a vein in your arm.

Important

This medicine is given only once, and the dose is carefully controlled by your doctor, making overdose unlikely.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction, loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, difficulty breathing.
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, other types of swelling.
  • Fast or slow heart rate, high or low blood pressure.
  • Inflammation of the inside of the nose or the outer layer of the eye.
  • Skin inflammation, redness, rash, itching, increased sweating.
  • Taste disturbance, sensory disturbance, such as tingling or burning sensation.
  • Dizziness, headache, fainting.
  • Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain.
  • Joint pain.
  • Skin infection, inflammation, pain, skin redness, irritation, and swelling at the injection site.
  • Chest pain, chills.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to sodium oxidronate or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or high calcium levels in your blood (hypercalcemia).
  • Drink plenty of water before and after the examination to help your body get rid of the medicine faster.
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity and close contact with small children or pregnant women for 1 hour after the injection.
