How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is between 30 and 120 MBq. For children and teenagers, the dose is calculated based on their weight.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection, usually into a vein in your arm. You will be asked to drink plenty of water and urinate frequently after the injection and before the examination.

Important

A single injection is usually enough for the examination. The dose will be the smallest amount needed to get the necessary information.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions: skin rashes, red skin, itching, increased sweating, swollen eyes, swollen tongue or throat, eye inflammation, cough, shortness of breath, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), too much saliva, stomach pain, flushed face, low blood pressure.
  • Circulation problems: fainting, low blood pressure, headache, dizziness, pale skin, feeling weak, tiredness.
  • Injection site reactions: rash, swelling, or inflammation at the injection spot.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to succimer or any other ingredient in this medicine, or to any component of technetium (99mTc) succimer.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease.
  • If you are under 18 years old, your doctor will discuss the use of this medicine with you.
