Targiniq is a medicine for severe pain that also helps prevent constipation, a common side effect of strong pain relievers.
The usual starting dose for adults is one 10 mg oxycodone / 5 mg naloxone tablet taken every 12 hours. Your doctor will adjust the dose based on your pain.
Swallow the tablets whole with about half a glass of water, with or without food. Do not break, chew, or crush them. Take them at the same times every 12 hours (e.g., 8 AM and 8 PM).
The maximum daily dose is 160 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride and 80 mg of naloxone hydrochloride. Do not exceed a total of 400 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride per day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
