How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet.

Method

Take one tablet twice a day with a glass of water.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two tablets. Continue taking Targaxan until your doctor tells you to stop.

  • Feeling sleepy
  • Sleep problems
  • Loss of balance
  • Memory loss or poor memory
  • Loss of concentration
  • Reduced sense of touch
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Hot flashes
  • Fluid around lungs
  • Stomach ache
  • Dry mouth
  • Muscle pain
  • Frequent urination
  • Difficulty or pain when urinating
  • Fever
  • Swelling due to too much fluid in the body (edema)
  • Falls
  • Bleeding in the throat from swollen veins (oesophageal varices)
  • Lung infections, including pneumonia
  • Cellulitis (inflammation of tissue under the skin)
  • Upper respiratory tract infections (nose, mouth, throat)
  • Rhinitis (runny nose, inflammation inside nose)
  • Dehydration (fluid loss)
  • Blood pressure changes
  • Persistent breathing problems (e.g., chronic bronchitis)
  • Constipation
  • Back pain
  • Protein in urine
  • Feeling weak
  • Bruises
  • Pain after surgery
  • Fainting or feeling faint
  • Skin irritation, eczema (itchy, red, dry skin)
  • Changes in liver function (seen in blood tests)
  • Changes in blood clotting (INR value, seen in blood tests)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Targaxan if you are allergic to rifaximin, similar antibiotics (like rifampicin), or any other ingredients in this medicine. Do not take if you have a bowel blockage.
  • Stop taking Targaxan and get medical help right away if you develop severe skin reactions like red patches, blisters, peeling skin, or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, genitals, or eyes, especially if you also have fever or flu-like symptoms.
  • Stop taking Targaxan and contact your doctor immediately if you get severe diarrhea during or after treatment, as this could be a sign of a serious gut infection.
  • Seek medical help right away if you get an allergic reaction with symptoms like swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, trouble swallowing or breathing, or hives.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience unusual bleeding or bruising, as this might be due to a low number of platelets in your blood.

  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not use Targaxan if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it is not known if it can harm your baby.
  • Targaxan can cause dizziness in some people. If you feel dizzy, do not drive or use machines.
